Daniel Boone Regional Library (DBRL) has been connecting people across Boone and Callaway Counties with information, resources, technology, and one another for generations. Today, the Library is much more than a place to check out books. DBRL provides free access to books and digital resources, technology, educational programs, community events, outreach services, and resources that help people learn, connect, and thrive.

From early literacy and childhood learning to services for older adults, digital access, community education, and support for rural residents, DBRL works to meet people where they are and provide the resources they need, regardless of their age, background, or circumstances.

The DBRL Foundation

The Daniel Boone Regional Library Foundation helps make these opportunities possible by raising private funds to strengthen and expand the Library's services beyond what public funding alone can provide.

Foundation support helps DBRL invest in innovative programs, technology, outreach, collections, and special projects that directly benefit the communities we serve. Every contribution to the Foundation helps ensure that the Library can continue responding to changing community needs and creating new opportunities for the people of Boone and Callaway Counties.

Help Us Keep the Bookmobile Moving

For many people in rural Boone and Callaway Counties, the Library's Bookmobiles are their library.

DBRL operates two Bookmobiles that bring books, technology, programs, and library services directly to communities throughout the region. They visit rural communities, childcare centers, schools, community events, and other locations where access to a traditional library branch may be difficult.

Together, our Bookmobiles serve approximately 1,500 adults and children every month.

But our Bookmobiles are aging. One is approximately 25 years old, while the other is 16 years old. Years of service and thousands of miles on the road have taken their toll, and maintaining these vehicles is becoming increasingly difficult. In the winter of 2025-2026 alone, electrical problems forced the cancellation of 12 scheduled service stops.

We need your help to keep this vital service on the road.

Our Goal: $1 Million

DBRL is launching a $1 million campaign to replace both of our aging Bookmobiles with new, reliable vehicles that can continue bringing library services to communities across Boone and Callaway Counties for years to come.

This is more than a campaign to purchase two vehicles. It is an investment in access.

A new Bookmobile means:

• Books and educational resources reaching children who may not live near a library branch
• Early literacy resources reaching families and childcare providers
• Technology and digital resources reaching people who need them
• Library services remaining available to rural communities
• Reliable transportation for thousands of monthly visits
• The ability to continue bringing the Library directly to the people we serve

DBRL is committed to investing in this campaign as well. We anticipate contributing approximately $500,000 toward the project, but we need our community's help to raise the remaining funds needed to replace both vehicles.
